The Hero I Never Knew I Needed

One day I saw what looked like a troll video on YouTube.

Some guy looked like he was razzing some lady for trying to make music and videos. The title was something like "the worst music video ever"

So I watched and it was a video from like the 80s shot on a camcorder of a lady singing a song.

All of the quality was bad (video, song, background singers, etc.), but there was something so charming and endearing about it all.

I wound up going down a rabbit hole. . .

Mind you I'm still thinking this is a troll at first. No way this is a real thing.

But I watched video after video. There was stuff from the 80s all the way until like 2022.

Songs, music videos, local tv interviews, mall performances. Someone had even done a short documentary on her!

No this is definitely a real thing.

This lady was a D.I.Y artist back in the 1980s and NEVER stopped, y'all!!

Then I got to one of her latest performance videos from maybe two or three years ago. . .

This video had less than 1k views, but here was this lady.

Every bit in her old age.

Performing her music for a PACKED room at a record store.

I'd never heard of her until then, nobody had ever mentioned her to me or in passing. She wasn't on any major broadcasts. She wasn't super pretty, or tall or rich, there were ppl trolling her along the way.

But she never quit! And maybe she's not rich and famous but damn if she isn't living the mf'n DREAM anyway!

Thank you, my hero, JAN TERRI 🫡
